River Valley Energies Gets Final Approval For Construction of Ethanol Plant
On September 19, 2006, the Iowa County Board of Supervisors gave final approval for the construction of an ethanol plant in the Town of Arena, WI. River Valley Energies, LLC. is expected to break ground this winter with full construction to follow in January or February of 2007. Once built, the plant will produce 50-million gallons of ethanol annually and will consume nearly 15 million bushels of corn each year. Wisconsin & Southern Railroad will be transporting 70% of all products into and out of the plant by rail with the remaining 30% going by truck.
River Valley Energies will be the fourth ethanol plant on the WSOR system once completed. Currently, United Ethanol is building a 50-million gallon plant in Milton, WI which is proposed to be operational by January of 2007. Additionally, WSOR serves two existing ethanol plants Badger State Ethanol in Monroe, WI and Utica Energies in the Town of Utica near Oshkosh, WI. Together, these four plants will have capacity to produce more than 200 million gallons of ethanol annually.
"Creating additional markets for Wisconsin farmers and putting investment back into our agricultural industry is critical to developing renewable fuels and alternative sources of energy," stated Bill Gardner, President & CEO of WSOR.
