| WSOR Hosts Emergency Responder Training at Ripon, WI |
RIPON, WI, April 20, 2009 — Over 60 emergency responders from Ripon, Utica, and Omro attended a combined Operation Lifesaver and Railroad Safety training event Monday, April 20 hosted by the WSOR at Ripon, Wisconsin. Area rescue crews and firefighters viewed a safety presentation at Ripon’s new fire station and then spent some hands-on time with railroad equipment at the Fenton Street rail spur in town.
Using three locomotives and three freight cars, Wisconsin & Southern employees helped familiarize crews with the basics of the equipment. Fire Department equipment was used to illuminate the scene. WSOR would like to thank all WSOR personnel who assisted to make it a success: L595-20 crew, trainmasters Koser and Prescott, and yardmaster Krueger. FRA’s Grade Crossing safety inspector Michael Bennett drove up from Chicago to participate.
